Sensing each other, complementing each other.
A family story spanning generations.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when the first egg of our business was laid.
But sometime around 1920, our great-grandfather Marinus van Tilburg began trading eggs from Diemen.
What started as a modest trade quickly became a familiar sight at the markets in Amsterdam and surrounding areas.
Market vendors knew him, trusted him – and Van Tilburg’s egg business thrived.
From Market Trade to Family Tradition
Ten years later, annual sales had already grown to an impressive one million eggs.
Son Cornelis joined the business – not just to help, but to build alongside his father.
Together, they weathered the difficult years of the Second World War, and the business grew into a close-knit family company, rooted in trust, hard work, and mutual support.
From Tildi to EWN – A Name with a Story
In 1975, the company was renamed Tildi – a nod to the family’s heritage, but with an eye on the future.
Ten years later, grandson Rien took over leadership.
Under his direction, Eiveko Noord was acquired in 1990, and the name changed to EWN Eierencentrale West Nederland.
Today – Tradition Meets the Future
Today, great-grandsons Eelco and Mike lead EWN.
What once began with a basket of eggs in Diemen has grown into a modern enterprise in the heart of the poultry world – Barneveld.
